LABORATORY TEST
Laboratory testing to find out and understand the problems that occur in the reservoir. Designs for the technical implementation in the oil field Selecting for the most efficient and effective methodology based on Laboratory result to be implemented in the oil field to increase oil production and recovery.
Phase Behaviour Test
- Qualitative analysis of phase behavior was determined by the presence of microemulsion (middle phase).
- Microemulsion was formed by interaction of SEMAR with two immiscible fluids, as water and oil.
Mixture Viscosity
SurPlus works by changing reservoir wettability with the impact of lowering the capillary tension and reducing oil viscosity by forming oil-rich colloidal dispersion. which has much lower viscosity thus it is easier to flow within the reservoir. Furthermore, SurPlus works as visco-blocking that an increase the viscosity and sweep the oil bank (unswept oil) in lower permeability areas.
Spontaneous Imbibition
- Spontaneous imbibition refers to the process of absorption with no pressure driving the phase into the rock.
- On the drainage process (replacement of oil with water). the non-wetting phase pressure (oil) is higher than the present capillary pressure. resulting in the distribution of the wetting phase (water) into the pores.
- During the imbibition process on capillary condition. the wetting phase replaces the non-wetting phase without any outside pressure to the core.
Coreflood
Coreflood apparatus is a system that flow a fluid through a core sample at controlled pressure, temperature conditions and measures or monitors flow parameters.

Field Implementation
The implementation of SurPlus technology as a reservoir performance enhancement in oil fields can utilize two injection methods: huff and puff and continuous injection.
HUFF & PUFF
Implementation of the Huff & Puff Method where a mixture of formation water and SEMAR is injected into the production well, the purpose of this method is to observe the reservoir response to SEMAR. The evaluation of observations is conducted at the Huff & Puff well and surrounding production wells.
SurPlus technology is one type of RESERVOIR STIMULATION implemented on a reservoir scale (Huff & Puff or Continuous). The results of increased in oil production rates both in the injected well and nearby producing wells.
The main purpose of the field trial is to prove that the most compatible chemical with optimum concentration determined in laboratory will increase oil recovery and production when implemented in real reservoir scale. This technology has been widely implemented by huff and puff to continuous injection in Southeast Asia, Middle East, North Africa, and North America. a successful injection treatment is typically characterized by one or both of the following outcomes:
- Increased oil production
- Decrease watercut
Based on the experience of implementing SurPlus technology at field scale and full scale, the following recovery and economic improvements have been achieved:
